Anonymous asked: Was there any particular reason why Deathcry wasn't actually there for the first story arc in Busiek's Avengers? It seemed weird since the effort was made to drag in every possible Avenger you could but Deathcry, who wasn't been used elsewhere and wouldn't be used again for a long time, wasn't around.
Deathcry was dumb.

Deathcry’s on p 18 of the first issue, along with other past members who were dead, missing or otherwise unavailable. As I recall, she was off-planet at the time, and wouldn’t have been reachable by either the heroes or the villains.
Otherwise, she’d have been there. We had Darkhawk and Magdalene show up, after all. We could have fit her in, had she been around.

I never really saw Darkhawk as an Avenger. Even if he weren’t tied more to the New Warriors, Chris was really a lone operator during his time.
Of course, he might have benefited from being an Avenger more because of later stuff…. oh, well.
Heh. If we only used the characters we thought made sense as Avengers, then George would have had a lot less to draw. Darkhawk became a reserve Avenger in AVENGERS WEST COAST #94, so he was on the list, regardless of whether anyone much felt he should have been…
